about

“Crime and Soda” is the third single and title track from their upcoming fifth studio album. The band deviates from their mathy, post punk tendencies and starts off with a dark, slow piano piece recalling bands like Arab Strap or The Black Heart Procession. “Crime and Soda” is about giving up on someone who has become consumed by their consumption of “crime and sodas,”; a fictitious drink fabricated for this track.

lyrics

Recognized randomly on the street
Paralyzed by everyone you ever meet
Not socialized enough to ever weigh the cost
Dehumanized until it becomes a total loss

Just order another crime and soda
Out on the range it always lasts
Sorry now I have to quote ya
Investigate another past

Weaponized until we dry up the well
Digitized until we think in parallels
Dehumanized pushing us to the brink
Euthanized so we have a lot of time to think

Just order another crime and soda
Knowing some things had to change
Sorry now I have to quote ya
Drained devotion with a cane

Some day you’ll learn to walk alone
Some day you’ll learn to change your tone
Until then you’re on your own
Until then your cover’s blown
Some day you’ll learn to walk away
Some day you’ll learn to change your ways
Until then you’re on your own
Until then your cover’s blown
